Credits and licenses

Everything in here that somebody else made, and the terms it came with.

Typefaces

Both are variable, both are served from this site in woff2, and neither loads from anyone else's server. Each comes as a latin file and an extended latin file, which a page fetches only when it has one of its letters.

Newsreader

Production Type, for the Newsreader Project Authors. Carries the headings and the large figures. 57 KB, and 36 KB extended. SIL Open Font License 1.1.

Public Sans

The United States Web Design System, for the Public Sans Project Authors. Carries the reading text, labels, controls and figures. 26 KB, and 18 KB extended. SIL Open Font License 1.1.

The SIL Open Font License requires its text to travel with the font files. Both licenses sit next to the fonts they cover in static/fonts and the links above go straight to them.

Software

Flask and Jinja2

Pallets Projects. BSD 3-Clause. The server and the templates.

Polar

Payments, subscriptions and invoices. A service rather than a library: nothing of theirs runs in this page.

In the browser

No framework, no build step and no bundle. The stylesheets are written by hand and served as they are. There is no analytics script and no third party JavaScript of any kind, which is why there is no cookie banner asking about any.

The rest

The interface is set on the idea of an accounting ledger, which is where the paper colour and the alternating tone came from. Nobody owns that idea.
